2. The anjo.is website

This website sets no cookies and runs no analytics. There is no measurement code, no advertising network and no social media embed on any page.

Fonts and all other assets are served from our own domain, so your browser makes no third-party requests while you read the site.

The site is hosted by Cloudflare, which receives requests and delivers the pages on our behalf. That hosting involves the ordinary technical handling of requests, including IP addresses, for the sole purpose of serving the site and protecting it from abuse.

3. The GuideMe app

3.1 No user accounts

GuideMe has no user accounts. We do not ask for your name, email address, phone number or age. The first time the app runs, it generates a random, anonymous player ID on the device itself. That ID is not linked to you as a person.

3.2 Location

Location is used only while you are playing. It is processed on your device for one purpose: to detect when you have reached an X-marked stop so that the stop can unlock.

Your location is never uploaded to us and never stored by us. We keep no location history, no tracks and no record of where you have been.

3.3 Progress sync

So that leaderboards work, the app uploads your progress to our server. That upload consists only of:

• the anonymous player ID,
• the hunt ID,
• the score,
• the number of stops found,
• the start and finish timestamps.

Nothing else is sent.

3.4 Leaderboards

Leaderboards display a handle derived on the server, in the form Explorer-XXXX. The anonymous player ID itself is never shown to other players.

3.5 Photos and drawings

Some challenges ask you to take a photo or draw something. That content stays on your device. It is not sent to us and we store it nowhere.

3.6 No ads, no tracking

GuideMe contains no advertising, no tracking SDKs and no third-party analytics. We do not sell data and we do not share it for marketing purposes.

We use Cloudflare as the infrastructure for the website and our backend — specifically Workers, D1 and R2. Cloudflare hosts our content and stores the progress data listed in section 3.3 on our instructions. We use no other service providers to process data from the app.

6. Retention and deletion

Progress data is kept while the hunt and its leaderboard are in use. You can request deletion by emailing us at anjo@anjo.is.

Note that we cannot find your data from a name or an email address, because we hold neither. To let us locate the record, include your anonymous player ID, which you can find in the app's settings.

7. Your rights

Under Icelandic data protection law and the GDPR you have the right to be informed about processing, to access data about you, and to have it corrected or erased, as well as to object to processing. Email us at anjo@anjo.is and we will respond as soon as we can.

Because the data we hold is not connected to your name, in most cases we cannot link it to you without the player ID. That is a consequence of how little we collect, not an attempt to avoid our obligations.

You may also lodge a complaint with the Icelandic Data Protection Authority (Persónuvernd), personuvernd.is.

8. Children

GuideMe collects no name, age, email address or other identifying information — from children or adults alike. There is therefore no collection specific to children beyond what is described above.

If we change this policy we will update the date at the top of the page. Earlier versions are not archived on the site; contact us if you need a previous version.
